In the area

Rich, rugged and resilient, Port Hardy is the gateway to an authentic, unspoiled, nature-driven adventure.

Port Hardy sits at the very edge of the coastal wilderness where you can hike the rugged trails, walk along the sandy beaches, or paddle along the rocky shores, no matter what you choose you will find that exploring Port Hardy connects you with nature in ways you didn’t anticipate. The area has rich cultural heritage with totems and big houses standing tall and weathered throughout Port Hardy and the neighbouring community of Fort Rupert, telling of the indigenous history that began over 8,000 years ago. Port Hardy is the gateway to outdoor adventures further afield, being the southern end of BC Ferries famed Inside Passage journey, and with float-planes make the journey to remote lodges such as Great Bear Lodge.
