In the area

Banff is a year round resort town, surrounded by the natural beauty of the National Park that bears the same name. It is a captivating mountain town that offers so much to every type of visitor.

The downtown area only encompasses two blocks yet is full of fabulous restaurants, relaxing cafes, boutique shops and lively bars and brewpubs. The town is home to three museums, situated either side of the rushing waters of the Bow River and wonderful viewpoints such as Bow Falls and the Hoodoos await to captivate every visitor. Easily reachable by car, or public transport, are some of the regions premier attractions. From the Banff Gondola, which whisks visitors up to the peak of Sulphur Mountain for epic views over the Bow Valley, to a scenic cruise on Lake Minnewanke, a cool turquoise lake surrounded by sky-high mountains. There is history to be found in this town too, so why not have lunch at the castle-like Fairmont Banff Springs opened in 1888, or soak in the Upper Hot Springs which at 1,585 metres are the highest operating hot springs in Canada.
